Glyph Production Update: Oct 22

Glyph Production Update: Oct 22

Hey everyone,

After China’s Golden Week holiday wrapped up, we received a fresh round of updates from our production partners — and there’s a lot of progress to share! While we’ve hit a few unavoidable delays, the overall outlook remains strong and steady.

Displays & Aluminum Bottom Shells — Timeline Adjustments

Display Investigation Complete:

In our last update, we mentioned a screen issue discovered during pre-production testing. The investigation is now complete — and the results are good news! The failure was isolated to a single prototype unit where hand soldering caused an electrical short. Since production units use fully automated soldering, this issue cannot occur in final products.

Aluminum Bottom Shells:

Before we could greenlight full production, we needed to receive and approve final pre-production samples in the U.S. This step was critical to verify:

  • The fit and alignment with the support panel
  • The finish quality of both the anodized gold and powder-coated white versions.

Unfortunately, it took about 1.5 months for these samples to clear customs and arrive — global logistics have been unpredictable lately, with customs procedures changing week to week.

The good news: The samples have been approved! Production of both the aluminum shells and OLED displays is now scheduled to complete by the second week of November.

Behind the Scenes:

Now that the tough news is out of the way — let’s talk about what’s going right!

All other components have continued through production smoothly, and the team has been busy verifying, assembling, and filming the process. Below are a few shots and clips from the factory floor showing injection molded parts, art inserts, firmware flashing, top plate machining,  and more in action.

What's Next

Here’s what the next few steps look like:

  • Finish production on all individual components
  •  Assemble final pre-production pilot units for full-line quality checks
  •  Launch the Backer Survey to collect shipping information
  • Begin final assembly
  • Conduct full QC testing
  • Complete packaging
  • Start shipping

Once we complete the pilot units and confirm the full assembly line runs smoothly, we’ll be able to share a clear and final shipping schedule.

Updated Schedule

As mentioned, customs delays and extended verification steps have nudged our timeline slightly. While we’re not quite at the shipping phase yet, we’re getting very close. The team’s focus remains on quality and reliability — making sure every Glyph leaves the factory perfect.

We’ll provide a concrete shipping window once pilot testing wraps up.

Closing Thoughts

No one enjoys announcing delays, but we believe transparency matters more than silence. The finish line is in sight, and we’ll continue to share updates, photos, and videos as production moves forward — right up until your Glyph is in your hands.

Thank you again for your patience and support. Seeing this community rally behind the project continues to inspire our whole team. We can’t wait for you to experience the Glyph for yourself.
